Life in California

As many close friends and family know my husband, children and I moved to California in early 2013. We have been here for 2 years now and it still doesn't quite feel like home.
Life is always changing and these few years are not without exception.

So to back track, 2013 was a year of many changes for myself and my family. We moved from Virginia (which was our home for 9 years) to California. In April 2013 I gave birth to our third child. A little boy, who has been the light of our life. He is energetic and full of laughter.
Then in August 2013, I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. I am proud that while I was pregnant I was able to finish my degree.

After finishing my degree, I decided it would be best to start looking for work. So, I started applying to job offers. Application after application and still nothing. No calls, no emails, nothing. It started to get disappointing. So, in September I attended a job fair on the base and to my relief, I met a lady who's company was looking for an entry level Administrative Assistant. I handed the lady my resume and we chatted for a few minutes. A few days later, I received a call from this lady and said that they were interested in hiring me for the job. On October 1, 2013 I started working for the small woman owned company as an Administrative Assistant. Little did I know that this would be a learning experience in patience and balance for me.

As the job wore on, I became exhausted at life in general. I had zero energy or motivation. I worked so much that I had little left to offer my family in the evenings. I found myself irritated with life, work, and my family. I would snap at just hearing my name being called. I knew I needed to figure things out. I saw a doctor and was told that I had thyroid disease and needed to start on medication to correct it. Soon after, I also learned that my iron was very low. So, I also started on iron pills to bring the iron up.

Well after all this it was still not going well for me personally. I am sure for many people they thought that things were fine for me since, I had received a raise at my job and I had three kids who loved me. But for me it wasn't that simple. I was hating life and my health was slipping.

So, in August, after talking with my pastor, I started a new job as an After School Program teacher aid. It was a new change for me to go from working full time to working part time. I had more time to be with my children and my husband but the pay was less so the bank account wasn't as full.

I am happy at my current position but it is still not my dream job. I am able to concentrate on my health. I have been to several specialist and I am currently working to correct my health. I have had to endure iron infusions via IV every other week as well as a surgery procedure to fix the iron problems.

Currently life in California is going well though I am looking to land my dream job soon. My children are well, my marriage is improving, and my health is on the mend. I hope to soon see my family and friends and embrace them with a giant hug.

Jeremiah 29: 11-13 has been my inspiration for the last few years and I know God is not finished with me yet because he has a plan for my life. Always a plan!
